This was a true milan event and other british manufacturers should take note. Design week
A collaborative installation between KEF, Moving Brands and Creative Technology resulted in what was truly one of the most spectacular events to be shown at the fair this year. Muon is a remarkable two-metre high loudspeaker created by KEF, the British based world leader in sound technology, and designed by the innovative industrial designer, Ross Lovegrove. The central aim for KEF was to create the ultimate loudspeaker with strong design sensibilities, a characteristic that is lacking in the audio industry to-date. To complement the installation in Milan, Ross Lovegrove commissioned Moving Brands to create an audio responsive visual installation, which demonstrated the unique fluid sound of Muon – it reacted in real time to the music played through Muon. The National Museum of Science & Technology was chosen as the location for the launch, an apt setting, but even more so owing to the room chosen, the Sala Del Cenacolo. Behind huge heavy wooden doors, a dark beautiful frescoed room was the setting. The contrast between the cutting edge design of Muon and the room, coupled with the Moving Brands animation was awesome and described by visitors as a ‘religious’ experience.
