March saw the launch of the first ever Manolo Blahnik concession in the Middle East, with exquisite store interiors inspired by the Golestan Palace in Iran. Sheikh Majed came up with the concept and tracked down Iran’s finest artisans to work in situ on the magnficent mirror and carved stucco wall panels.
At the same time Sheikh Majed unveiled a new Villa Moda concept with a 1,500 m2 store located in Kuwait’s most famous souk district. Inspired by the organised chaos of a traditional souk, Villa Moda Mubarakiya gives a multibrand edit where luxury items are mixed in with jeans, cool t-shirts by Turkish graphic designers or vintage caftans. Highlights include collaborations with Diane von Furstenberg, Rachel Roy and 7 for all Mankind who have all created items specially for the store. The overall concept and design was developed by Maybedesign, an architectural practise based in Istanbul and Vienna. With an ‘East meets West’ theme as their brief, Maybedesign have responded with a concept that is witty, inviting, innovative and visually spectacular – the hallmarks indeed of every Villa Moda project.
