Last night Camron helped launch the preview of Jerwood: Free and Framed at The Wapping Project. The “Free” portion of the exhibit consists of some inspired backstage shots at fashion shows that examine the way the photographer, Thomas Zanon-Larcher, disappears and how he looks at his subjects. The “Framed” portion is based on Henrik Ibsen’s play, A Doll’s House, and follows Nora after she slams the door and walks out on her husband. In each shot – photographed in London, Austria and Norway and directed as theatre by Jules Wright, Director of The Wapping Project – Nora is wearing an outfit by a different British designer. Jules has maximised impact by hanging huge prints at all angles throughout the bare brick showspace of this old hydraulic power station. Meanwhile, outside, four enormous prints taken backstage in Paris at the Commes des Garcons spring/summer show are housed in the spacious Wapping Project shed.
