The Godfather of politically-conscious graffiti, Blek le Rat, created a unique piece of temporary artwork on the exterior of The Conran Shop’s Michelin Building in London on the 7th May to celebrate the launch of the new book “Blek le Rat: Getting Through the Walls”. The major picture agencies and die-hard Blek le Rat fans watched as he re-created some of his most iconic works. Blek has been creating his original pieces for over twenty years and is often cited as one of Bansky’s inspirations. He describes urban art as the democratisation of art, “by bringing our work to the masses within the urban landscape, on the streets, we are including everyone.” To celebrate the book launch The Conran Shop held a party attended by journalists and graffiti art aficionados.
