Upon entering the Barrett Marsden Gallery the striking form of ‘Wallflower’ is intriguing in both its simplicity and demanding aesthetics. The diagonal wall-mounted planters jut from the wall but continue out into the room to invade our floor space, and so Gschwendtner confuses the parameters of a conventional 90 degree wall-to-floor relationship.
Although small, this exhibition demands an attentive audience. It asks us to search for the subtleties and nuances in the drips and drops of glass that are dotted throughout.
Exhibition dates: 8th Sept – 7th Oct 2006. Tuesday – Friday 11am – 6pm. Saturday 11am – 4pm
