Following on from the huge success of their first UK restaurant on Marylebone High Street, the internationally recognised Le Pain Quotidien has opened another eatery on Young Street off High Street Kensington.
At the front of the restaurant a wide variety of organic sourdough bread and delicious sweet and savoury delicacies prove tempting takeaways or gifts, as do the jars of Belgium chocolate spread, potted artichokes, bags of organic granola and fresh coffee. Walking past an open kitchen into the body of Le Pain Quotidien you’re drawn to a long wooden communal table – a familiar trademark and an integral part of the ethos of the company to share and communicate. This runs along one half of the bare brick walls while shafts of light stream down from the skylights. Friendly and knowledgeable staff can help you pour through the menu of tartines and salads, alerting you to specials like the sardine, beetroot and lime bruschetta. Steamy bowls of coffee and a selection of spreads and jams on the tables provide the perfect end to a meal.
Open for breakfast, lunch and now extending its opening hours and holding a liquor licence to cater for supper, Le Pain Quotidien is perfect for the early-bird businessman, the laden shopper, or to accommodate a cluster of friends for supper.
