I went to the seventh International Herald Tribune conference in Moscow last week. Hosted by Suzy Menkes, the theme of this this year’s conference was ‘Supreme Luxury’ Speakers included Tom Ford and the way to ‘seduce the luxury customer’, a keynote address from Angela Ahrendts, CEO of Burberry and Donatella Versace speaking about ‘conquering Russia and what I have learned’. Most agreed that Russia has taken on a glamour and luxury at an exceptional speed and that the country has re-created opulence.
