Walking up to the Tented Palace that sits besides the overwhelmingly large O2, was an African oasis complete with kilim rugs and Moroccan candle filled lamps, this set the scene for Afrika Afrika a two hour musical spectacular complete with traditional drumming, tribal dancing, spectacular acrobatics and oddly enough basketball played on unicycles and break dancing.

Creator André Heller and his team scoured the vast continent of Africa for two years looking for the best dancers, musicians, variety performers and circus acts they could find.

Take a trip to the V&A to see the exhibition Out of the Ordinary: Spectacular Craft which will be on until 17th February. The exhibition brings together artists from all over the world to show their work in the UK for the first time. All share the same preoccupation with everyday objects and mundane materials which are then transformed into unexpected and beautiful installations.

I was captivated by glass artist Kate Maestri’s exhibition at Craft Central. The one-off, limited edition wall sculptures inspired by the architectural drawings and interior details of the Barbican Centre are striking, not only in their rich hues and architectural form, but in the incredible play of shadows created around them. Be sure to check it out between now and February 9th!

I fell in love with this bar – seems people could easily live in it for a day. The casual seating, Porteno breakfasts (mate, cocido, croissant with dulce de leche) is a great way to start they day. It is in the heart of the Palermo district which adds to its appeal.
